🏊♂️ National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
The most widely recognised qualification in the UK and Ireland. Required for most pool lifeguard roles, from entry-level to management.
🌊 STA Pool Lifeguard Qualification
CIMSPA-endorsed and designed by the Swimming Teachers Association (STA). Covers pool rescue, CPR, first aid and emergency response skills for modern leisure facilities.
🏞️ Open Water Lifeguard (OWL)
Perfect for those supervising or rescuing swimmers in lakes and other non-tidal open water environments. Designed to keep open water activities safe and well managed.
🏖️ National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ)
The essential qualification for beach lifeguards. Recognised by the RNLI and developed with the National Water Safety Forum to ensure lifeguards can operate safely in all coastal environments.
We can help you arrange your monthly lifeguard training sessions with RLSS-qualified Training Assessors, so you stay confident, up to date, and ready for anything on duty.

To become an Open Water Lifeguard, do I need to be a pool lifeguard?
No, although if you are a qualified RLSS lifeguard then you will have dispensation for part of the open water course.
Do I have to commit to work a certain number of hours per week?
No, we understand that many of our lifeguards have other work commitments or studies to undertake also, therefore there is no minimum commitment expected of you.
Do you provide a uniform when we work at events for you?
Yes we will provide you with a Loan A Lifeguard T-shirt (& hoodie if necessary).
Do you cover travel expenses for one-off events?
Yes we do. We will also ensure to pay more for unsociable hours worked also. This will all be discussed prior to you accepting a placement.
I have qualified as a lifeguard outside of the UK, is my qualification valid in the UK?
No, you will need to re-qualify with the RLSS or STA to work here in the UK.
What can I expect to earn and how often do I get paid?
The pay varies by role, but we do always pay the minimum living wage and above. Event work generally has higher pay and we pay weekly also.
Do I get a bonus if I introduce a friend?
Yes we pay a bonus if you refer a friend and they work a minimum of two shifts with us.
How do I find out about job vacancies?
Email and WhatsApp alerts are sent out regularly and we also post job vacancies on our Job Noticeboard on our website.
Do I need to have my own rescue equipment?
No! We have rescue equipment that we can loan to you if the venue does not have equipment on site.
